Sarah (Scott) MacKirdy, 101, formerly of 5 Federal Pl. in Worcester died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 in the Overlook Masonic Health Center.

    Her husband of 74 years, Findlay MacKirdy died in 2003. She leaves a son, James R. and his wife Diane MacKirdy of Charlton, 2 daughters: Margaret McFarland of Goffstown, N.H. and Ellen Ducharme of Worcester, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her son, William, brothers: Andrew and James, and sisters: Margaret, Helen, Agnes, and Josephine.

    She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, daughter of John and Sarah (Wilson) Scott. She moved to Worcester at the age of nine with her family where the Scotts established themselves as honest, hard working members of the community. She worked at Harrington Richardson for 22 years, retiring in 1975. She was a 50 year member of Park Congregational Church, past matron of Daughters of Scotia, Chapter #2, and a member of Stella Chapter O.E.S. Sarah spent her adult life tending to the needs of family, friends, and anyone else in need of a hand. Her family sincerely appreciates the care she received in the last few years of her life from her dear friends at the Overlook Masonic Health Care Center.

    A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 17 in the Chapel of Overlook Masonic Health Center, 88 Masonic Home Dr. Burial will be in Worcester Co. Memorial Park.
