Subscription Update Obituary

Ruth G. (Sturtevant) Mahan, 89, of Spencer, died Friday, February 9th in St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband of 62 years, Richard L. Mahan, Sr. died in 1998. She is survived by a son, Richard L. Mahan, Jr. and his wife Marcy L. of Danielson, CT; 2 daughters, Ruth D. Cole, with whom she lived and Lois J. wife of Ronald L. Pirani of Worcester; a brother, Ralph D. Sturtevant, Jr. of Spencer; a sister, Sylvia M. Warden of Cummins, GA; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson and several nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Helen J. Pfennig and Dorothy A. Boisclair predeceased her.

She was born in West Boylston, the daughter of Ralph D. Sturtevant, Sr. and Nellie (Ryan) Sturtevant. Mrs. Mahan was a graduate of South High. She was a former member of Bethany Congregational Church and the Auburn Sportsman Club. Mrs. Mahan loved the Red Sox, camping, cruising and trips to the casino but most of all her family and family events. She enriched all those left behind with her enjoyment of life and great sense of humor and will be missed by all.

The funeral is Tuesday, February 13th with a service at 11:00 AM in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
