Subscription Update Obituary

    Ruth B. (Lewis) Provost, 87, of Slipper Hill Lane, Jefferson, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 8, 2009.

    Her husband of 62 years, Roland L. Provost, Sr., died in 2001. She leaves a son, Roland L. Provost, Jr. and his wife Joan of Worcester; a daughter, Donna E. Barthelmes and her husband Robert of Jefferson; 6 grandchildren, Roland K. Provost, Dawn L. Lidstone, Lieutenant Commander Robert B. Barthelmes, Jr., Gia M. Welsh, Kara L. Morrell and Jill Provost; 13 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Edward, Richard and Warren Lewis and two sisters, Eleanor Hendrickson and Arline Nadow predeceased her.

    Mrs. Provost was born in Worcester, a daughter of George F. and Marguerite (Redden) Lewis, and lived most of her life in Jefferson. She worked for five years for ECC in Jefferson, several years at Holden District Hospital and over 10 years for R.J. Toomey Clerical in Worcester. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, ballroom dancing, golf and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

    Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 12th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Her funeral will be held on Monday, July 13th, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Mass. Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472; or the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
