Rose Aimee (Foyle) Gelinas, 96, of Worcester, died peacefully on Monday, October 16 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was a longtime resident of Worcester and the surrounding area. Widow of John Lucien "Luke" Gelinas, she will be buried with her husband at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Rose was born in Coaticook, Quebec, Canada on May 2, 1910, second youngest of 12 children. At the time of her death, she was the only surviving child of her parents, Narcisse S. and Caroline (Perreault) Foyle. She spent her childhood years in Woonsocket, RI where she married Luke at Precious Blood Catholic Church on July 4, 1929, and they were married for 54 years at the time of his death on January 3, 1983. She worked for many years at the Brown Shoe Co. in Worcester as an inspector, and retired at the age of 63.
Rose is survived by her two daughters, Constance B. Wrightson of West Yarmouth, wife of Philip F. Wrightson, and Janet L. Joy of Milton, Washington. She was grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m on Friday, October 20 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 43 Belmont St., followed by a funeral procession to the cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. RICE FUNERAL HOME, 300 Park Ave, is directing arrangements.
