Rosalie Cecelia (Zaik) Pisarczyk, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 in St. Vincent Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Stephen J. Pisarczyk, Sr. in 2005.
She was born July 27, 1917 in East Brookfield the daughter of Polish immigrants. Her father, Frank Gregory Zaik and mother, Maryanna (Pystula) Zaik were born in Zabielie, Poland. Her father ran a dry goods store in North Brookfield in the 1930's and later a vegetable farm on North Brookfield Road where she spent her childhood. She remembers when she was a little girl going to school she would come home crying to her father because she was being called an "immigrant" and did not even know what it meant. She graduated in the North Brookfield High School Class of 1936 in the specialized curricula category of College Prepatory.
After marriage she resided in East Brookfield for many years with her family before moving to Lake Lashaway in North Brookfield in the early 1950's. She was a long time employee of the Klevens Shoe Company in Spencer and North Brookfield, and later Chess King and Tom McAn Shoe Company in Worcester. She was a homemaker extraordinaire; a fine cook of Polish foods. She maintained a flower garden and shrubs and grew her own vegetables for many years. Rosalie read the daily Telegram & Gazette and the weekly Spencer New Leader religiously. She always watched the early and late evening news on television; she was always interested in what the weather was forcast to be. Additionally, she watched the many food channels and was an avid fan of the Red Sox, watching every game. She was the cornerstone of the family and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosalie Pisarczyk and son, George Pisarczyk of North Brookfield; son Stephen Pisarczyk, Jr. and his wife Geraldine of Brookfield; four grandchildren: Stephen III, James, John and Cindy Scott; 5 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; nephews, Francis Zaik and Robert Zaik; and a niece, Catherine Bellerive. She was predeceased by brothers John and Frank Zaik; three sisters, Wanda Ritsky, Nora Gauthier, and Adele Zaik; and recently, a nephew, Anthony Francis Ritsky of Canada and formerly of Shrewbury and Westboro, the son of her sister Wanda Ritsky, who she cherished more as a brother, since they grew up together in their early childhood.
