The Honorable Ronald W. King, 76, of Worcester, a retired associate justice of the Worcester County Probate and Family Court, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus.
Ronald was born in Worcester to George J. and Corinne B. (Mimeault) King. He earned his B.A. from the University of New Hampshire, a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, and an LL.M. in taxation from Boston University Law School.
He gained experience in the Worcester County Probate and Family Court, first as assistant chief probation officer and then as assistant register, before joining the bench as a circuit justice and then associate justice. He retired in 2015.
Judge King was an adjunct faculty member at Clark University and Assumption University, where he taught courses in family law, probate law, mental health law, and elder law.
He was a member of the Worcester County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. He was a past chair of the Worcester County Bar Association’s Family Law Committee.
Ron leaves his wife, Elizabeth (Tinsley) King; sons, Brendan King and his wife Kennera, Brian King and his wife Sarah, Brett King and his wife Lyndsay, Kevin King and his wife Tara, William King, and James King and his fiancé Veronica Ramstrom; 13 grandchildren; John, Catherine, Margaret, Finbar, Benjamin, Timothy, Giuliana, Liam, Seraphina, Grace, Paige, Michael, and McCoy and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ron and Betsy were united in marriage for fifty-five years. They were high-school sweethearts, introduced to one another by Betsy’s brother David at a Halloween dance in 1965. They went on to share innumerable joyful moments as their family
grew. They especially enjoyed birthday and holiday celebrations with extended family.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting with his boys and closest friends. A hunting dog was unfailingly by his side as a partner and companion throughout his life. Ron has passed on his love of sporting life to his grandchildren. Equally adept with his hands as with his sharp intelligence, Ron could tackle any home improvement project. Ron, a lifelong parishioner at Christ the King Church in Worcester, cherished his faith.
Funeral services will be held privately, per the request of his loving family. The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald King’s name may be made to Saint John’s Food For The Poor Program, 20 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604, or Crossroads Continuum, 43 Broad Street, Suite C300, Hudson, MA 01749.
