Rock E. Goodreau, 73, beloved husband of Andrea (Langley) Goodreau, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, November 28, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. Born in Boston and raised in Rutland, he was the son of the late Archie and Monica (Lareau) Goodreau.
After graduating from Wachusett Regional High School in 1970, Rock enlisted in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country. Following his military service, he built a long and dedicated career as a machinist with Allied Machine Company, retiring after 30 years of service.
Rock’s life was guided by his faith and devotion to family. A longtime and dedicated member of St. Patrick’s Church in Rutland, he sang and played guitar there for more than 25 years. His love of music also extended to his involvement in many local bands in the area throughout his younger years.
He loved spending time outdoors and could often be found on the Rail Trail. Rock volunteered many hours and years using his tree cutting skills to help clear land to extend the rail trail many miles. This allowed the rail trail to reach more communities allowing more people to enjoy access to them. At home, he found joy in tending to his yard, working in his many gardens with his beloved wife and working with his excavators and backhoes.
Calm, steady, and humble, Rock embraced the simple pleasures of life.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 15 years, Andrea; his two sons, Jeffrey Goodreau and his wife, Mindy, of Rindge, NH, and Jason Goodreau of Worcester; three stepchildren, Richard Powers and his wife, Mary, of Santa Clarita, CA, Sean Powers of Orange, and Kendra Powers Mahony and her husband, Patrick, of Athol. He was the proud grandfather of Amber King and her husband, Owen, Jonathan Mahony and his wife, Shaelynn, Connor Mahony and his partner, Sadey Lehtomaki, Logan Powers, and Hannah Powers, and great-grandfather to the newest addition to the family, Brody Daniel King. Rock is also survived by his sisters, Donna Ciccone and her husband, Jay and Barbara LeBlanc and her husband, Robert, all of Leominster. He also leaves behind his very close in-laws including Bonnie Pichierri and her husband, Mike of Sun City Center, FL, Connie Carrin and her husband, Paul of Worcester, Karen Bailey and her husband, Michael of Springfield, Pammy Langley of Berkley, Debbie Langley and her companion, Steve Durrell; and many nieces and nephews. Rock’s friendship will also be missed by his close friends, Patty and Dwight Marsh, and Anne and Robby Spindler, all of Rutland.
Family and friends are invited to gather from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 8, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, at St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
