Rocco A. Marcello, Sr., 85, formerly of Auburn and Worcester, died Saturday, September 19th at Autumn Village, after an illness.

His wife of 61 years, Josephine E. (Martunas) Marcello died in 2004, the culmination of a love affair that began when they were young teenagers. He leaves his two children, Patricia A. "Trish" Miller and her husband Glenn of Paxton, and Rocco A. Marcello, Jr. and his wife Kathy of North Carolina; his five grandchildren, Kristina, Matthew and Stephanie Marcello and Seth and Ethan Miller. He was born in Salem and raised in Worcester.

He was a proud Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European, Middle Easter and African theater as a military police officer.

Mr. Marcello worked for many years at the Westborough State Hospital, where he worked as a ward clerk and retired as a security officer. He enjoyed playing cribbage, and accompanying his wife to bingo games.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rocco's family on Wednesday, September 23rd from 10-11 AM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. A prayer service will then be held at 11 AM in the funeral home, followed by burial with military honors in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. If desired, memorial donations may be sent to the Worcester County Food Bank, 474 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
