Subscription Update Obituary

�� Robert T. “Bob” Haglund, 57, died Wednesday March 19th at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

�� He leaves his wife of 20 years, Darlene (Thorpe) Powers Haglund; his five children, Jennifer Martinez and her husband Raphael of CT, Robert Haglund, Jr. of Oxford, Pamela D’Alio and her husband Michael of Oxford, Paula Borci and her husband Chad of Oxford, Patricia Groat and her husband Bryson of California; his brother James Haglund and his wife Dorie of Worcester; his fours sisters, Kathryn Direnzo and her husband James of Sutton, Jayne Leardi and her husband George of Worcester, Nancy Augusto and her husband John of Worcester, and Carol Grindley and her husband Walter of Millbury; his precious six grandchildren, Myah, Courtney, Mikey, Anthony, Dani, Brainna, as well as a set of twins due in July; his mother-in-law, Marie Carney, as well as several nieces, nephews cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his brother Stephen Haglund in 1990.

�� He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Karl T. and Priscilla (Litchfield) Haglund. He attended Boys Trade School in Worcester, and then joined the US Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam from 1969-1970. Upon returning, Bob worked for the former Johnson Steel and Wire. He went on to own and operate Bob Haglund Paving for several years. He then worked as a journeyman Iron Worker for Local 7, retiring after an injury suffered on the job.

�� He was a member of the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post in Auburn. He loved playing cards, trips to the casino, and being outdoors fishing and hunting. He enjoyed listening to country music and spending time gardening and making his lawn “greener than anyone else’s”. Bob was always willing to help anyone, enjoyed time with his family and friends, and looked forward to cookouts and pool parties with everyone.

�� The family graciously appreciates all the care given to Bob by all of his dedicated doctors, especially Drs. Ford, Seidler, Avradopoulos, Kennaugh, and Dr. Pitts; the 35 North nursing staff, the lab and radiology techs, ER Department, staff cancer registry and medical records staff of Saint Vincent Hospital, as well as the member of the Worcester VNA Hospice, especially Linda and Rosy.

� Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, March 24th from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. Bob’s funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Saint Roch Church, 390 Main St., Oxford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

� Instead of flowers, Bob’s family request memorial contributions be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
