Robert R. Leroux, 69, of Main Street, died peacefully Monday, December 3rd in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his beloved wife of 46 years, Jane V. (Coomer) Leroux; his two daughters, Michele M. Leroux of Hardwick, and Ann Marie L. Jackson and her husband Shayne of Auburn; his brother, Paul L. Leroux and his wife Claire of Worcester; his two sisters, Lorraine T. Harper and her husband Peter of Auburn, and Jean R. Holland and her husband Luther of Millbury; his five grandchildren, Nicole, Mary Beth, David, Kyle, and Zachary, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was born in Worcester, a son of the late Aurele and Laurette (Roy) Leroux and has lived in Leicester for many years. He graduated from Boys Trade School, Worcester.

Mr. Leroux began his long affiliation with his family business, Leroux’s Market in Leicester, as a young man. He worked with his father for many years and purchased the business in 1972 and subsequently moved it to its present location on Main Street, where he still worked with his wife Jane.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Worcester and a former member of Saint Pius X Parish in Leicester. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a shooting enthusiast, which he enjoyed as a member of the North Brookfield Sportsman’s Club. He served as a corporator for the former Leicester Savings Bank, now Country Bank in Leicester for many years.

He will be sadly missed not only by family, but also by the many friends and acquaintances he made throughout the years while working in the market. Many people were touched by his kindness, helpfulness, and spirituality. Even though he was a very public figure in town, he was also a private man who saved his best for his family.

The family would like to thank the nurses, PCAs, and doctors at St. Vincent’s Hospital who work in 35 North for their help and compassion.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 8th with a Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St., Worcester. Committal will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Our Lady of the Angels Parish, 1222 Main St., Worcester, MA 01603 or to the American Cancer Society, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
