Subscription Update Obituary

    Robert Leighton Armstrong, 54 of Shrewsbury, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 at UMass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus surrounded by his family and friends.

    Bob leaves his life's partner, Gilberto H. Ortiz of Connecticut; a brother, Leonard T. Armstrong of Shrewsbury and his fiancée, Elizabeth H. Joyce; five sisters, Deborah R. Howarth and her husband, Richard G. Howarth of Auburn, Leona M. Saucier of Spencer and her fiancé, Joseph Stewart, Lorraine M. Gould and her husband, C. Raymond Gould of Webster, Nancy C. Turner and her husband, Charles D. Turner, Jr. of North Brookfield, Maureen M. Levasseur and her husband, Andrew J. Levasseur of Worcester; also survived by several nieces, nephews, a long time friend and companion, Lori White of Shrewsbury and his beloved dog, Lillie.

    He was born in Worcester and raised in Shrewsbury, son of the late Thomas L. and Doris M. (Vigneault) Armstrong. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School and the former David L. Fanning School of Art.

    Bob was a talented artisan specializing in stained glass and hand-made kaleidoscopes. He loved animals and was a gentle kind hearted soul and will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.

    The Armstrong family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses of the UMass Memorial ICU-6 for their competent and compassionate care of Bob.

    Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bob's family on Monday, March 14, 2011 from 9:30-11:00 in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A Prayer service celebrating his life will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
