Subscription Update Obituary

Robert J. Scricco, 89, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at The Willows at Worcester.

Robert’s first wife of thirty-nine years, Helen M. (Lapriore) Scricco, passed away on September 4, 1985. He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Gloria F. (Rathay) Scricco; a son, John R. Scricco and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Karen Giuliano and her husband James of West Chester, PA; two step-sons: David D. Smith and his wife Susan of San Jose, CA and Michael P. Smith and his wife Mary Jane of Hamden, CT; two step-daughters: Pamela J. Kazarian of Worcester and Melissa Jacobson and her husband Andrew of Auburn; two sisters: Dorothy DeLuca of Harwich, MA and Elaine Clark of Kingston, Ontario; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Felix D. Scricco, Jr.

Robert was born in Worcester, a son of the late, Felix D. Scricco, Sr. and Anna (Marcimo) Scricco and has lived here all his life.

He graduated from Commerce High School. Robert served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked as a construction foreman for Francis Harvey & Sons for 35 years and worked for the Laborers Union Local 243 retiring in 1985. He later worked in maintenance at the Carpenters Training School in Millbury for over 10 years. Robert was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the Metro West Hospice for the outstanding care given to Robert in his last days.

A memorial service for Robert will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd., Worcester. Burial will be held privately at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the church. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
