Subscription Update Obituary

   Robert J. Ryan, 67, of Worcester, died Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Beaumont Nursing Center in Northbridge after a brief illness.

   He leaves his wife of 40 years, Judith A. (McLaughlin) Ryan; three children, Sean P. Ryan and his fiancée Christina Dumas of Worcester, Courtney E. Ryan and Ian M. Green of Newport, R.I., and Maura R. Donoghue and her husband Patrick Donoghue, three granddaughters, Rory, Caitlin and Brenna Donoghue, all of Georgetown, Mass., and many nephews and nieces. His brother, Richard Q. Ryan of Syracuse, predeceased him.

   He was born in Worcester son of Joseph and Kathleen (Quinlan) Ryan. He graduated from North High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

   Mr. Ryan operated his own company, Ryan Insurance Investigations. Previously, he owned and operated Kings Linens Co. and North American Financial Services, both in Worcester. He started his career with the New England Telephone Co.

   Mr. Ryan was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. He enjoyed boating and was a Past Commodore of the West Dennis Yacht Club on Cape Cod. He was a former member of the Worcester Elks Lodge.

   Bob was devoted to his family, especially his granddaughters.

   The Ryan family wishes to thank the staff at the Beaumont for their skilled and compassionate care.

   Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Thursday, Dec. 4 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Program at the Beaumont Nursing Center, 85 Beaumont Drive, Northbridge 01534.
