Subscription Update Obituary

    Robert J. Remillard, 77, of Worcester, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at home with his family at his side.

    He is survived by his loving wife, Rita A. (Williams) Remillard; a son, Robert J. Remillard Jr. and his wife Kathy of Bourne; three daughters: Deborah Gill and her husband Thomas Jr. of Worcester, Mary Ellen Remillard and her husband Roger Duval of Worcester, and Theresa LaVallee of Hudson; two brothers: Fred Remillard and Francis Remillard both of Worcester; a sister, Florence Gray on Cape Cod; five grandchildren: Tara, Brian, Jillian, Meaghan, and Kailee; four great grandchildren: Izabella, Izaiah, Juliana, and Aiden; many nieces and nephews. A brother, Thomas Remillard and a sister, Ellen Thibeault, both pre-deceased him. Robert was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Mary (Doherty) Remillard and has lived here all his life.

    Robert worked as a truck driver for many years, retiring from George Lamereaux Trucking in 1984. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the Teamsters Local 170, and enjoyed the "Wonder of it all". Mr. Remillard was a volunteer at the soup kitchen at Saint John's Church for many years. He was a man who loved his family and encouraged his children and grandchildren to pursue their education. Robert believed in family, faith, kindness, and education.

    The funeral for Mr. Remillard will be held Thursday, October 22, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hour will be held Wednesday, October 21 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
