Subscription Update Obituary

    Robert J. Bourgea Jr., 58, of Worcester, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in St. Vincent Hospital after a short illness.

    His wife, Rhonda M. (Glover) Bourgea, died in 1999.

    He leaves two children: Lisa J. Germain and her husband Michael, and Brian P. Bourgea, all of Worcester; a brother, Ronald J. Bourgea and his wife Janet of Lawrence; a sister, Aldea Uminski and her husband Ronald of Sturbridge; three grandchildren: Nicole, David and Dana; his companion of seven years, Donna Starbard of Worcester; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His sister, Joanna Harris died in 1987.

    He was born in Worcester, son of Robert J. and Laurel (MacDonald) Bourgea. He graduated from Burncoat High School and attended the University of Maine at Orono.

    He was an Army veteran, having served in Germany during the Vietnam War era.

    He had a long career as a machinist for Worcester area manufacturers. Recently, he has worked on the security staff at the DCU Center.

    Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St. are Sunday, June 13 from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Monday, June 14 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
