Robertson Grady “Bob” Boatwright, 87, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2013, with his family by his side.
He leaves his sister, Betty-Jean Jeffords of Florence, S.C.; his daughter, Margaret Boatwright-McEvoy of Worcester; four grandchildren, Moira McEvoy and her husband Cherif Boudouani of Worcester, Kate McEvoy-Zdonczyk and her husband Gary Zdonczyk of Auburn, Tanya Boatwright-Leveille and her husband Johnny Leveille of Auburn, and Michael Grady Boatwright Jr. of West Boylston; and four great-grandchildren, Damian McEvoy and Aaron Pemstein McEvoy of Worcester, Jenna and Justin Johnson of Auburn. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Deyo) Boatwright; his beloved son, Michael Grady Boatwright; his grandson, Jared Boatwright; and his brothers, Edward Boatwright and Benjamin Malcom Boatwright.
Bob was born in Marion, S.C., the son of the late Foster and Geneva (Chapman) Boatwright. A proud U. S. veteran of World War II and the Korean War, Bob moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend school after his service to our country. Bob and Elizabeth then moved to Worcester, living there for over 60 years. Bob was known for his cooking, particularly his southern recipes, and was the proprietor of The Chili Factory restaurant in Worcester for several years.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved fishing, gardening, cooking, baking, and in particular, playing cards with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
