Robert A. Dupuis, 83, of Westward Way, died on Saturday, April 12, 2014 after being stricken ill with his family by his side at Saint Vincent Hospital. Robert leaves his wife of 56 years Gloria (Gagne)Dupuis of Brookfield ; a daughter Kathleen of Brookfield; a son David & his wife Jill of Spencer; a sister Shirley Chapin of Spencer ; several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Lorraine (Dupuis) D’Amato.
Robert was the son of the late Alfred & Gertrude (Lacoste) Dupuis and was born and raised in Spencer. He graduated from the Worcester Boys Trade and then joined the Navy serving from 1952 -1956 as a radio operator. He and Gloria lived in the home he grew up in and then moved to Leceister in 1981 where they lived in their beloved log cabin until moving to Brookfield in 1997. Robert was an avid candlepin bowler and softball player in his youth. He worked as commercial painter and then also at the Bayberry Bowling Lanes before retiring. He loved to garden, play cards, bingo, fish, hunt & his many trips to the casino. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a fourth degree knight. He also belonged to the American Legion , Veterans of Foreign Wars, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish / St. Mary’s Oratory in Brookfield, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Robert also worked very hard at repainting the inside of St. Mary’s Oratory.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5-8PM in Pillsbury Funeral Home Rte 9/ Old West Brookfield Road Brookfield. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church 22 West Main Street West Brookfield. Burial will be private for the family.
