Rita B. (Viens) Gingras, 81, formerly of Auburn, died Wednesday, June 10th at Quaboag on the Commons, West Brookfield, after an illness.
Her husband, Robert N. Gingras, Sr. died in 2004. She leaves her six children, Ray Placentino and his companion Keith Allen of Randolph, Elaine Sebree and her husband Bill of Las Vegas, Wanda Collins and her husband Joe of Maine, Paul Placentino and his wife Leanne of Jacksonville, VT, Robert N. Gingras, Jr. of Sturgeon Bay, WI, and Barry Gingras and his wife April of Fiskdale; her brother, Andre Mercier and his wife Liza Mercier of Massueville, Quebec; 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Leonard Viens.
She was born in Stewartstown, NH, daughter of the late Aladian and Florida (Boyer) Viens and lived in Auburn for more than 47 years before moving to West Brookfield.
Rita retired in 1995 from the Slovin Company in Worcester, where she was a sample maker for many years.
Along with her late husband, Rita was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star in Massachusetts. She was a longtime member of its Pakachoag Chapter in Auburn, where she was a Past Worthy Matron, and had also served in the state association as Deputy Grand Matron in 1975-76. She was also member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Worcester.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, June 14th from 3-6 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 15th at 10 AM in the All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Irving St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
