Subscription Update Obituary

Richard W. Nichols, 76, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at home after a short illness.

He leaves his wife of 33 years, Marie E. (Goodrich) Nichols; seven children, three step-daughters, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, James J. Nichols and his wife Joyce of Worcester; two sisters: Harriet Consiglio of West Dennis and Barbara Weeks of Framingham and nephews and nieces. Two sisters: Alice Irene St. Marie and Joyce Dumont predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Charles H. and Alice (Miller) Nichols and attended Worcester schools. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Richard was a truck driver for Associated Transportation for many years before retiring. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Church, AFL-CIO Local 170 Teamsters and the Greendale Men’s Club. Richard was a wonderful grandfather and his smile would light up a room. He was well loved and will be missed by his family and many friends.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 28 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St, with a Mass at 11 AM in St Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours will also be held on Thursday, July 28 from 8:30–10:30 AM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation of Mass & RI, 181 Park Ave, Suite 112, West Springfield, MA 01089.
