Subscription Update Obituary

    Richard W. Huard, 88, of 22 Balder Road, died Thursday, May 20 at home.

    His wife of 53 years, Doris P. (Murray) Huard, died in 1999. He leaves two sons, Robin R. Huard and his wife Christina of Leicester, and William A. Huard of Leicester; two daughters, Christine L. Huard of Worcester, with whom he made his home, and Lisa A. Huard Wilson of Worcester; one sister, Evelyn West of Auburn, who is 100 years old; three grandchildren, Alexis Huard Paquin, Travis S. Huard, and Shaylyn P. Pineiro; four great-grandchildren, Vaughn G. Paquin, Laila R. Paquin, Madison and Kayla Mineau; many nieces and nephews. The youngest of fifteen children, Richard was predeceased by thirteen brothers and sisters. He was born in Spencer, MA, son of Oliver and Angeline (Fecteau) Huard.

    Richard was a machinist at Heald Machine Company and also an emergency room technician at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving as a Medical NCO for the 922 3rd Transportation Unit, and was stationed on the Queen Mary military transport ship. He played semi-pro baseball for eight years in the Worcester Industrial League, he was a boxer in the Army, an avid golfer, gardener and reader.

    Services will be private. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UMass Memorial Hospice, c/o UMass Memorial Foundation, Bio Tech One, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01613-9938. RICE FUNERAL Home, 300 Park Ave., is in care of arrangements.
