Subscription Update Obituary

Richard T. Duggan, 81, of 189 Holden St., died Thursday, September 21, 2006, in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a short illness.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Lorraine R. (Butler) Duggan; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard W. and Ruth E. Butler of Holden, Kenneth and Lilia Butler and George Butler all of Worcester, and Paul and Barbara Butler of Carver; several nieces and nephews. His sister, Theresa Allen, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Agnes and Herbert McGee, and was a life-long resident of Worcester. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving in Asiatic and Pacific theaters where he was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Mr. Duggan was a machinist for Russell Machine Products, later known as Lutco Bearings for 40 years, retiring in 1987. Upon retirement, he worked at St. George's Church where he was also a Church and men's club member, and sang in the choir for 25 years. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division Association.

The funeral for Mr. Duggan will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. George's Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01609; or to the Alzheimer's Association, Mass. Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
