Richard P. Grigarauskas, 63, of Holden died unexpectedly Thursday, March 13, 2008, at home.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Elizabeth I. (Gingerelli) Grigarauskas; two loving sons, Richard P. Griggs and his wife Debra of Northbridge, and Stephen G. Griggs and his wife Wendy of Worcester; four grandchildren, Charles R., Zachary R., Trevor S., and Meaghan M. Griggs. Richard is also survived by two brothers, William Grigarauskas of Florida, and Frank Grigarauskas of Connecticut, and two sisters, Eleanor Murno and her husband Michael and Shirley Liseno all of Worcester, and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by a brother, Walter Grigarauskas.
Richard was born in Worcester, son of the late William and Mary (Marcunas) Grigarauskas and lived in Worcester many years before moving to Holden thirty six years ago. He was a resident of the Nazareth Home for Boys in Leicester for several years as a youngster and had special memories of being there. Richard was the group leader/braider mechanic of the Braiding Department for the Helix Hi-Temp Company which is a subsidiary of the Draka Corporation for many years before he retired. Previous to that he worked for the Belden Corporation, and Rafferty Steel Company.
Richard was an avid sports fan and loved to fish and travel. He and his wife drove cross country several times. He was a coach for the Holden Little League for several years when his sons where younger. His most precious times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Calling hours for Richard will be held Tuesday from 5PM-8PM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A graveside service will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00AM in Worcester County Memorial Park. Those attending are asked to go directly to the Cemetery. There is no procession from the funeral home.
