Subscription Update Obituary

     Richard F. Roy, Sr., 76, of Paxton, died Wednesday, August 22nd at the Meadows of Leicester. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Patricia A. (Greenhalgh) Roy; a son, Richard F. Roy, Jr. of Mount Laurel, NJ; a daughter, Jody A. Roy of Richmond, VT; a brother, Ronald Roy; two sisters, Marie McGrain and Kay Lindley; four grandchildren, Molly, Erin, Meghan and Robert and a great grandchild, Jayden.
     He was born in Worcester, the son of Ronald J. and Julia C. (Donahue) Roy. Richard graduated from St. John’s High School and Worcester State Teacher’s College. Mr. Roy worked for the Worcester Public Schools for 37 years. He retired in 1994 as the Assistant Director of Special Education and previously was a special education teacher. Richard was involved in Babe Ruth Baseball for 37 years and was the New England Regional Assistant Commissioner and the Western Massachusetts State Commissioner. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.
     His funeral is Monday, August 27th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours are Sunday, August 26th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church, 551 Pleasant Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
