Subscription Update Obituary

   Raymond J. Fontaine, 83, of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, March 29th in UMass-Memorial Hospital, University Campus.
  
  
He leaves his wife, Patricia (Beauregard) Lawrence Fontaine; 2 sons, David B. Fontaine of Falmouth and Terrence J. Fontaine, and his wife Soraia of Worcester; a step-son, David J. Lawrence and his wife Ann of Deerfield, NH; a step-daughter, Kara J. Nadeau and her husband Wayne of Millbury; a brother, Robert Fontaine of West Boylston; a sister, Yvonne Ushinski of Northborough; 9 grandchildren, Terrence, Christopher, Elizabeth, Tianna, Gabriella, Mahra, Molly, Jason and Jordan; and several nephews and nieces. His first wife, Lucy D. (DiLiddo) Fontaine, died in 1991. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. He was born in Worcester, the son of John and Eugenie (LaCroix) Fontaine and was raised by his father and step-mother, Rose (Dwyer) Fontaine.

  Mr. Fontaine was a barber for 20 years, and then became a bus driver for the Worcester Regional Transit Authority for 20 years, retiring in 1992. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Amalgamated Transit Union. He enjoyed bowling.

   The funeral is Tuesday, April 1st with a service at 11:00 A.M. in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday, March 31st, from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
