Subscription Update Obituary

   Rachel P. (DiPasquale) Beland, 92, of Worcester, formerly of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2008, in The Christopher House of Worcester. Her husband, Valmore A. Beland, pre-deceased her in 1995. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Ann Sutherland and her husband Edward of Spencer; a son, Richard Beland and his wife Carol of Worcester; a brother, Louis DiPasquale of Worcester; a sister, Eva Karbowski and her husband Ted of Shrewsbury; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a great grand daughter; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rachel was pre-deceased by a son, Ronald Beland of Worcester, as well as two brothers, Victor and George DiPasquale. Rachel was born in Worcester, the daughter of Antonio and Lucy (Novia) DiPasquale.

   Rae worked as a cashier at both the former Iandoli and Hodes Markets, before she retired many years ago. She was a former member of Mary Queen of The Rosary Church.

   The funeral for Rachel will be held Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., in the funeral home, immediately prior to the funeral service.
