Subscription Update Obituary

     Mr. Peter O’Packi, died Saturday, July 31st at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He is survived by three sons, Robert P. O’Packi of Leicester, Ma., Peter F. O’Packi of Worcester, Thomas D. O’Packi of Sterling; a daughter, Patricia A. Swartz of Deerfield, Fl; a brother, Carl Opacki of Charlton; also 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Mr. O’Packi was pre-deceased by his wife Agnes H. (Skowronski) O’Packi who died in 2002, a daughter, Lorraine Kupstas, two sisters, Katherine Kayder, Sophie Stone, three brothers, Benjamin Opacki, Domenic Opacki, and Genifaro Opacki.

Mr. O’Packi was born in West Sutton, Massachusetts the son of the late Raymond and Domenica (Olender) Opacki.

He lived most of his life in Worcester, and worked at National Standard until his retirement in 1969. Mr. O’Packi served his country during World War II in the United States Army 7th Infantry Division having fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Mr. O’Packi was an avid golfer and a member of the Green Hill Golf Course in Worcester, he also enjoyed gardening and was an avid bridge player. Other memberships included the Disabled American Veterans #04, and the Polish Naturalization Independent Club on Millbury St. in Worcester.

His funeral was held from the Manzi Funeral Home, 179 Shrewsbury St. Worcester on Tuesday August 3rd. Calling hours were on the same day from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 11:00 a.m at the Funeral Home. A military burial followed at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Louis M. Fazio III.
