Paul E. Nault, 83, of Millbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the home of his beloved companion and caregiver, Cora I. (Gelinas) Vitkauskas, after a long illness.
His first wife, Lorraine B. (Deslauriers) Nault, died in 1987 and his second wife, Irene M. (Mayor) Godbout Nault, died in 2003.
In addition to Mrs. Vitkauskas, he leaves 4 children: Daniel P. Nault and his wife, Judy A. (Mardirosian) Nault of Scotia, NY, David E. Nault and his fiancee, Cally R. Kenneway of Brimfield, Elaine M. Nault of Millbury and Richard E. Nault and his wife, Tracey A. (Rafferty) Nault of Franklin; 9 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Doris E. Struckus of Pomona, CA; a brother, Ernest C. Nault of Auburn; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Louise C. Sherry of Auburn, and by 2 brothers: Charles A. Nault of Pomona, CA and Roland J. Nault, Oxford.
He was born in Worcester on August 28, 1924, a son of the late Archibald W. and Eva G. (Bouley) Nault and moved to Millbury in 1956. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Ardennes and Rhineland campaigns in Europe.
Mr. Nault was Chief Estimator at Wright Machine Corp., Worcester, where he worked for 49 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Parish, where he was an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, a lector and a member of the parish choir and the Men's Club. He was also an Associate of the Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He enjoyed finishing and refinishing furniture, woodworking and travel. A fan of most sports, he enjoyed watching high school, collegiate and professional contests. He also liked visiting the Millbury Senior Center to talk with friends, play cards and participate in singalongs.
The funeral will be Tuesday, March 25, from Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 10 Waters St. He will then be laid to rest beside Lorraine in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, March 24, from 5 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
