Pasquale “Patsy” A. DiPilato, 89, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in UMass Hospital, surrounded by his family. His loving wife, Jennie (Marzilli) DiPilato, predeceased him in 1991.

Patsy is survived by his son, Vincent A. DiPilato and his long time girlfriend, Alice d’Entremont, who Patsy thought of as a daughter, and was his primary caregiver; two grandsons, Daniel V. DiPilato stationed with the United States Army in Italy and Andrew N. DiPilato of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Domenic A. DiPilato and his wife Anna of Pittsburg and Nino M. DiPilato and his fiancé Arlene Skala of Charlotte, NC; many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Eleanora DiPilato. Patsy was born in Worcester, a son of Italian immigrants, Vincenzo and Nunzia (Paradiso) DiPilato. Patsy served his nation proudly during World War II, in the United States Navy. He was stationed in Oahu, during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Patsy retired from Presmet Corporation in Worcester, where he had worked as a machinist for over fifteen years. He had previously worked for Worcester Pressed Steel and had also owned and operated a dry cleaning business. He was a member of Saint Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury and the Eastside Post 201 American Legion.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful people on the 7th floor at UMass Hospital. The Doctors, Nurses and support staff went above and beyond the call of duty to make Patsy and his family comfortable in his final days.

Calling hours for Patsy will be held tonight, Friday, September 9, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 10, at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road (Route 9), Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
