Subscription Update Obituary

    Nunzio A. Casello, 85, of Shrewsbury formerly of Leicester, passed away Sunday, December 26th 2010.

    Nunzio's wife, Janice (Lavallee) Casello, passed away in 2000. He is survived by his four children: Dr. Jean Casello-Deters and her husband Dr. Robert Deters of Shrewsbury, Joseph Casello and his wife Josephine of Boynton Beach, Florida, Mary Goyette and her husband Paul of Somersworth NH, Dr. Janie Casello-Bouges and her husband Richard of Auburn; seven brothers and four sisters: Nicholas Casello, and Rose Stechelak both of Leicester, Michael, and John Casello of Worcester, Joseph Casello of Shrewsbury, Anne Stewart of Auburn, Alfred Casello of Bolton and Priscilla Pavone of West Boylston; five grandchildren: Abigail and Wesley Bouges, Robert and Michael Deters, and Trinity Beckford; many nieces, nephews and friends. Two brothers: Anthony "Andy" and James "Jimmy" Casello and a sister, Rita Hill all predeceased him. Nunzio was born in Worcester; his parents were the late Nicolo and Emily (Sena) Casello. He attended Commerce High, joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II. He grew up in Worcester and lived many years in Leicester and Shrewsbury.

    Nunzio worked more than 45 years for the Henry L. Hanson Company before retiring. He was also a Worcester Police Department Auxiliary Officer and a security officer for TJX companies.

    Nunzio was a member of St Pius X church in Leicester, the Alhambra Council Knights of Columbus, the Worcester Police Auxiliary and the Froshinn Club in Shrewsbury.

    The funeral will be held Friday, December 31st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 am in St Pius X, 1154 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, December 30th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
