Subscription Update Obituary

   Normand A. Berard, 75, of Marlborough, MA formerly of Worcester died August 2, in the Backus Hospital while enjoying his retirement.

   Mr. Berard is predeceased by his wife of 49 years Doris I. (St. Armand) Berard who died in November 2005 and a son Marc and a daughter Michelle. He is survived by seven children; Normand S. and Denis both of Worcester, Brian of Shrewsbury, Gregory and Laurence both of Brookfield, Lianne of Danielson, CT and Paul of Marlborough with whom he lived; several sons and daughters-in-laws; 29 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; as well as many others who lovingly called him Dad or Pepere.

   Normand was born on August 17, 1930 in Worcester son of Wilfred and Delisca (Lafrenaye) Berard. Normand and his wife Doris were married Jan. 21, 1956 at Notre Dame in Worcester.

   Mr. Berard was a veteran of the Korean War and worked for the United States Postal Service for thirty years before retiring. He will be best remembered for his love of card playing and bingo.

   The funeral will be held on Monday, August 7, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 53 Illinois Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, August 6, from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or the Special Olympics of Massachusetts, P.O. Box 303, Hathorne, MA 01937.
