Norman Leon Gendron, 76, born November 13, 1947, to Leon H Gendron and Marion (Roberts) and resided in Spencer, Ma in his youth. He was pre-deceased by his brother Dennis Gendron and his three sisters Suzanne M. Gendron, Michelle A. Kozak and Denise I. Boushie. Norman leaves three sons, Charles Gendron, active-duty Air Force, Matthew Gendron, and John Michael Burlingame. He has grandchildren, nieces and nephews that will miss him. Norm loved his family more than they may have even known.
Norm was married for 30 years to his beloved Debra Para. They were married at Sacred Heard Parish by Father Micheal Roy. Debra insists that he was the best companion and friend. He was a serious man, who was a pillar of strength, but he had, and unexpected sense of humor and his laughter filled the house. He was very generous and would give you the shirt off his back, literally. We will certainly miss his strength and spirit. Norm was a weekly communicant of the church and was a dedicated parishioner. He left a legacy of faith in his community. His love of music spanned genres including classical music and many church hymns. He was very skilled in many instruments and especially loved the clarinet.
A high school graduate of David Prouty Spencer, Ma, then continuing his education and completing his accounting and business degree at Nichols College in Dudley, Ma. He worked at many non-profit organizations in management and social working. He may have graduated in business, but he truly loved helping people. Norm was very active in the military, serving in the US Marine Corp as a Staff Sargent, serving 3 tours of duty in Vietnam as a combat veteran. He was awarded many honors for exemplary heroism under enemy fire and his leadership skills.
He enjoyed the outdoors and his pets. Some of his favorite activities included propagating plants, and his meticulous yard care and maintenance. Teddy and Heidi, his dogs, enriched his life.We want to thank all the caregivers and staff at the VA and the Oncology team at Brigham & Woman’s in Boston and his spiritual guides including Father Lucas Laroche and Deacon Paul Lesieur at Sacred Heart Parish.
