Subscription Update Obituary

    Nicholas J. Mandella, 66 of 25 Pine Acres died Friday, Oct. 9 in St. Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill at home.

    He leaves his wife of 40 years Linda M. (Letendre) Mandella, his mother Rita (Kovaleski) Mandella of Oxford, his children Nicholas A. Mandella and his wife Nancy of Spencer, Jennifer E. Mandella of Spencer, Michael Mandella and his wife Tracy of Leicester and Angela Mandella of Tenn., three brothers Joseph Mandella and his wife Lynn of Spencer, Steven Mandella and his companion Michelle of Cherry Valley and Tod Mandella and his wife Cheryl of Oxford, several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat Mario. He was pre-deceased by a sister Linda Mandella.

    Mr. Mandella was born in Webster son of Nicholas Mandella. He was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the Army 101st Airborne 'Screaming Eagles" and made several jumps while serving in Vietnam. After serving his Country he returned home and started a construction company with his father, Mandella and Son. He retired after 20 years from Local 4 Engineers Heavy Equipment Operator in 2007. He coached Spencer Little League and was an amateur photographer. He was an avid model railroader. He was a member of the Boston and Maine R.R. Society and Quaboag Model Railroaders in East Brookfield. He was an exhibitor and club participant in the Annual Amherst Railway Society in Springfield.

    The funeral will be held Tuesday, October 13 from J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church Street, Spencer. Burial with Military Honors will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday from 5:00-8:00 PM.
