Nancy Ann (nee Dryer) Hammitt, 78, of Hambden Township and Kings Mountain, N.C., passed away peacefully while recovering from a stroke on Jan. 3, 2015.

Mrs. Hammitt was born and raised in Hambden, the daughter of the late Frank and Grace Ruth (nee French) Dryer.

She graduated from Chardon High School and worked for many years at Chardon Rubber Company/Ball Rubber and Plastics, from which she retired.

She moved to Kings Mountain in 2006.

Mrs. Hammitt is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Glen W. Hammitt Sr., of Kings Mountain; and son, Glen W. Hammitt Jr., and his wife, Audette, of Shrewsbury, Mass.

She is also survived by a granddaughter, Corina L. Allgood, and her husband Joshua and their children, Jace and Elizabeth, of Bethlehem Ga.; and grandsons, Glen W. Hammitt III, of San Diego, Claif., and Sean R. Hammitt, of Shrewsbury, Mass.

Mrs. Hammitt also leaves behind a sister Alberta Varat, of Middlefield; her mother-in -law, Virginia Hammitt; a brother-in-law, Richard Hammitt, and his wife, Patrice, of Kings Mountain; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Delores Adams, Wanetta Elliot and Rose Skidmore; and brothers, John and Dale Dryer.

Mrs. Hammitt enjoyed travel throughout the United States as well as her visit to Japan while her son was stationed there.

Her hobbies included flower gardening in the spring and summer, and making holiday cookies in the winter.

However, she most enjoyed the time spent with her family, whom she dearly loved.
