Subscription Update Obituary

     Muriel A. (Eaton) Heiniluoma, 91, of 106 Main Street, Rutland, died after a brief illness on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Heywood Hospital, Gardner, the same hospital in which she was born. She was the daughter of Elisha and Millie A. (Davis) Eaton, and lived 51 years in Holden before moving to Rutland in 1994.

      Her husband, Oiva V. Heiniluoma, died in 1980. She is survived by two sons, Barry Heiniluoma and his wife Kathleen of Hubbardston and David Heiniluoma and his wife Lois of Hawaii; seven grandchildren; Andrew, Susan, Mark, Amy, Roger, Jennifer and David, Jr.; several great-grandchildren; and three nieces. A brother, Donald Eaton predeceased her.

     Muriel graduated from Gardner High School in 1939 and worked in the kitchen at Wachusett Regional High School in Holden for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holden, Holden Grange, Finnish Heritage Society Sovittaja in Rutland, and the former Wachusett Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Holden. She also attended both the Holden and Rutland Senior Centers and was a life member of the Templeton Fish and Game Club. Muriel was a people person who enjoyed any type of social gathering, especially if it involved her family.

     Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Muriel’s family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Finnish Heritage Society Sovittaja Scholarship Fund, c/o Eva E.
