Subscription Update Obituary

    Mildred B. (Bourbeau) Merrill, 93, of Parker Avenue, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in Autumn Village Nursing Home, Worcester.

    Her husband of 56 years, Byron E. Merrill, died in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce A. Marin and her husband, Bruce Roberge of Grafton; two grandsons, Mark N. and Michael F. Marin; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth J., Christopher and Jonathan Marin; and several nephews and nieces. Three brothers, Leo and Alfred Bourbeau and Clarence Laraivee and two sisters, Doris Dorsey and Gladys Clapp, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester the daughter of Cyril and Emma (Progin) Bourbeau and lived 20 years in both Shrewsbury and Holden.

    Mrs. Merrill graduated from Beal High School in Shrewsbury and worked for Sherman Textile Co. in Worcester and Orlando’s Supermarket in Shrewsbury. She was a member of St. George’s Church in Worcester and attended the Holden Senior Center. She travelled to Europe with her daughter several times and enjoyed bowling, crocheting and knitting. She loved playing both the organ and piano.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 2nd, in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George’s Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester, MA 01606 or to the American Diabetes Association , 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
