Subscription Update Obituary

     Mildred L. (Hopewell) Schiavone, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Life Care Center of Auburn.

     She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Arthur R. and Agnes (Campbell) Hopewell. She attended Commerce High and Girls Trade Schools. Wife of the late George P. Schiavone, she is survived by her two children, Arthur Schiavone and his wife, Carol, of Shirley and Jean (Schiavone) Wetherbee and her husband, Bruce, of Worcester; a brother, George Hopewell of Shrewsbury; a sister, Nanci Jacobson of CA; two grandsons, Adam Wetherbee and Brian Schiavone; and many nieces & nephews. Mildred was a long-time member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Worcester. She loved spending time with children and was a home day-care provider for many years. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and volunteering at the Life Care Center, where she had been a resident since 2000.

     Mildred’s family would like to thank all of the staff at Life Care, especially the Gardenia Unit, for their compassionate care.

     Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, from 4-7 p.m., Monday, December 26, 2011. The funeral will be held at Saint Michael’s on-the-Heights, 340 Burncoat Street, Worcester, Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association , MA Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
