Mildred “Millie” G. (Leonard) Grensavitch, 91, of Paxton passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in the home of her son, Richard. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Joseph Grensavitch who died in 1987.
She leaves her children, Carol wife of Dr. Richard Miller of Exeter, New Hampshire, D. Susan wife of Larry Hughes of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Richard and his wife Debra of Paxton, and Kenneth and his wife Mary Jean of Hartford, Wisconsin. She also leaves 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren. Mildred was born in Worcester on August 16, 1920, the adopted daughter of Elizabeth and Rueben Leonard and lived in Worcester until moving to Paxton in October of 1942. She was also predeceased by her son, Joseph Grensavitch, a granddaughter, Michele Lacroix, and two brothers, Gerald and Kenneth Leonard.
Millie was a housekeeper for many families. She bowled with the Paxton Senior Bowling League for 20 years until 2010, and volunteered for many years at the Paxton Senior Center. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Paxton and a former member of the Paxton Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed music, line dancing, traveling, and crocheting but she got the most joy out of watching all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and all of their accomplishments.
Millie’s family would like to give their heartfelt thanks to the people at Care Alternatives Hospice, but especially to Isabelle, Mandy, Julie, and Tanya for their exceptional care of Millie. Your commitment and love shown to her during this time will be forever remembered and we will all be forever grateful.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 16, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Funeral Service for Millie will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, in the funeral home with the Rev. Donald D. Whitcomb officiating. A committal service will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care Alternatives, 181 Cedar Hill Street, Marlboro, MA 01752.
