Subscription Update Obituary

     Michelena A. (Calabrese) DiRoberto, 82, of Worcester died peacefully Saturday, October 19, 2013 in the Beaumont Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Leo J. DiRoberto predeceased her. Michelena is survived by her loving family; sons, David DiRoberto, and his wife Lynne, and Steven DiRoberto, all of Worcester, three sisters, Philomena Dedo, of Worcester, Marie Gingras of Sutton, and Lucille Simone of Millbury. Michelena was the doting and loving grandmother to Daniel, Cayla, and Cole, she also leaves many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a grandson Steven DiRoberto and a brother, Domenic Calabrese.

     Michelena was born in Worcester daughter of the late Leonard and Josephine (Tatalo) Calabrese and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of the Worcester David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School. Mickey worked for the Worcester School Department for many years and also was a cashier at Ralph’s Market on Lincoln St. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann, she loved to read, listen to music, and enjoyed watching her Red Sox! She was an excellent cook and really enjoyed being with her family. Mickey loved living in her three decker neighborhood as she would always say. She was a sweet lady who will be terribly missed by her family and friends.

     Michelena’s family would like to thank the Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Salmon Hospice for their compassion and kindness shown to Mickey and her family during her stay there.

     Michelena’s funeral will be held on Tuesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann, 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours will be held from 4:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday in the funeral home. Interment with her husband will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association , 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
