Michael M. Charland, 68, of Worcester died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in his home.
He leaves four daughters, Michelle Charland-LaRose and her husband Michael of Oxford, Deborah Charland of Ft. Meyers, FL, Lori Charland of Dudley, Brenda Charland and her husband, Robert Charbonneau of Dudley; a brother, Roland Charland of Springfield; two sisters, Rochelle Barry and her husband Jack and Dolores C. Zinkevich, all of Worcester; eight grandchildren, Bruce Lovely, Kenny Kephart, Bobby, Stephanie and Brendan Charbonneau, Michael Charland, Amanda Charland and Nicholas Goddard; two great grandchildren, Bruce Lovely, Jr. and Serenity Kephart; his longtime companion and caretaker, Patty Snowberger and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Gary Charland, a sister, Joyce Hatfield and his former wife, Rachel Charland. He was born in Worcester, a son of Roland and Alma (Garry) Charland.
A lifelong Worcester resident, Mr. Charland was a Deputy Sheriff for Worcester County. He was the owner and operator of the former French Connection for twenty-seven years. Michael was a Charter Member of the Eagle Club. He played for the Jack Benny Softball League for 17 years. He was also a member of Teamsters, Local 170, the Brown Square Civic Club and Holy Family-St. Joseph Church. He attended St. Joseph School. He will be missed by many for his good nature and generosity.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 25, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. Calling hours will be Friday, September 24, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St.
