Subscription Update Obituary

    Maurice W. Porter, “Moe”, 84, died Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Emeritus at Eddy Pond of Auburn, where he had lived for the past 3 years. Maurice was born on March 12, 1926 in Winchendon, son of Emma (Rushia) and Birney Porter. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War. Moe worked at the George Myer Co. for many years and also worked at Lusignan Brothers and Spags. He enjoyed vacationing at the family camp on West Island in Fairhaven and annual summer trips to Maine. He was a long-time Boy Scout troop leader and also volunteered for many years with Dr. Hart at the Medical Clinic at Epworth Church in Worcester. Moe was a talented woodworker and could always be found in his shop – turning wood on his lathe, making furniture, or making repairs. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and the many walks he had with his loyal companion, Snoopy.

    His wife of 50 years, Jacqueline (Smith) Porter died in 1996. He is survived by a daughter, Gail Faron and her husband Tim; a son, Brad Porter and his wife Kristin; three grandchildren, Timothy Faron, George Porter, and Shawn Porter; and three great grandchildren, Noah and Brockton Porter and Camden Faron.

    Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 9, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling Hours will be held between 5 and 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel.
