Subscription Update Obituary

Mathew Ferrantino, 88, of 211 Hartwell St., died Tuesday, November 14, 2006 in the Autumn Village Rehab. Nursing Facility, 25 Oriol St., Worcester, after a long illness.

He leaves four daughters, Patricia Kihlstrom, wife of Albert of Largo, FL, Judith St. Denis, wife of Harold of Boylston, Raphaela Hopkins, wife of Russell of Worcester and Dolores DeVillers, wife of Frank of West Boylston. His wife of 57 years, Etta F. (Ramsey) Ferrantino, predeceased him. He also leaves a brother, Nicholas of Florida; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Victoria Sulivan and Libra Latino and four brothers, Ferdinand, Michael, Louis and William. He was born in Worcester, son of Pietro and Raphaela (Penna) Ferrantino, and lived in Worcester before moving to West Boylston 28 years ago.

Mr. Ferrantino served in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II in the Phillipines. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6907 of which he was past commander. He was also past state commander of the military order of the "cooties". He worked at Mobil Socony Vacuum and was self employed for many years.

The funeral for Mr. Ferrantino will be held from the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling, with a Mass at 12 noon on Saturday, November 18, in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 17, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the American Stroke Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701; or the Autism Resource Center of Central Mass., 71 Sterling St., West Boylston, MA 01583.
