Subscription Update Obituary

     Mary T. (Feeley) Toomey, 80, of Mayo Drive, passed away peacefully in Holden Nursing Home on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 after a long illness.

     Her husband of 37 years, Richard J. Toomey, Jr., died in 1988. She is survived by four sons, Richard M. Toomey of Worcester and his companion Averil Capers of Holden, Edward J. Toomey and his wife Bernadette of Paxton, Kevin Toomey and his wife Elaine and Daniel Toomey, all of Worcester; four daughters, Patricia M. Curtin and her husband James of Holden, Cathleen T. Norton and her husband Joseph of Paxton, Mary J. Capite and her husband Joseph of Rutland and Joanne T. Roy and her husband Clifford of Holden; two brothers, Edward M. Feeley, Jr. of Holden and John Feeley of Texas; a sister, Margaret Kelleher of Clifton Park, NY; 20 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. An infant daughter, Patricia M. Toomey, died in 1952. Two sisters, Patricia Feeley, S.S.J. and Catherine McLoughlin, predeceased her.

     Mary was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of Edward M. and Agnes (Nevalsky) Feeley, Sr. and lived 36 years in Holden and 4 years in Rutland. She was a graduate of St. Peter's High School, Class of 1947, and later from Salter Secretarial School, both in Worcester. Upon graduation, she held her first position at R.J. Toomey Co. where she met and later married her husband Dick. After raising her children, she worked as an administrative clerk for the Visiting Nurse Association for 10 years and several years at Audrey's Hide-A-Way in West Boylston. She was a founding member of St. George's Church and enjoyed volunteering for RSVP in Worcester. Mary's greatest joy came from spending time with her children and many grandchildren, who referred to her affectionately as "Grandma Scoop".

     Friends and relatives are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 11th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 12th, in St. George's Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will be at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
