Subscription Update Obituary

   Mary M. (Leary) Giddings, a longtime high school teacher, died Wednesday, March 26th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. She leaves her husband of 52 years, Robert R. Giddings; and numerous cousins.

   Mary was born in Worcester, the daughter of Cornelius J. and Margaret (Flavin) Leary and lived in Worcester all her life. She was a graduate of North High School and the College of Our Lady of the Elms. Mary received her Masters Degree from Boston University and also studied at Clark University. She was a teacher in the Worcester Public School System for 30 years, retiring in 1981. Mary taught at North, Classical, Doherty Memorial and Burncoat Senior High School. She had previously taught at Auburn High School and Grafton High School. Mary was a member of the Boston University Alumni Association, the Boston University Women's Club of Worcester County, the Southern Worcester County Retired Teachers' Association, the Massachusetts Retired Teachers' Association and a life long member of the National Education Association.

   The funeral is Saturday, March 29th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Bernard's Church, 228 Lincoln Street. Burial will be private. A calling hour will be held from 9:00 until 10:00 AM Saturday in the funeral home.
