HOLDEN, MA / YORK, ME – Mary L. (Wyman) Webber Carlson, 85, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2005, surrounded by her family. 

Her husband, Henry E. Carlson, died in 2002.  Her first husband, Albert H. Webber, died in 1980.  She leaves two sons, Stephen B. Webber and his wife Janice of Ontario, Canada, and Scott C. Webber and his wife Deanna of Newington, NH; a daughter, Carole M. Ballard and her husband Joseph of Maitland, FL; a step-son, Dr. Ronald Carlson and his wife Nancy of Lehighton, PA; a sister, Margaret Lantz of York, ME; 4 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; several step-grandchildren and great-step-grandchildren. 

Mary was born in Keene, NH, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Jewett) Wyman. She graduated Keene High School and Dresser Business College.  In Keene, she worked at the Peerless Casualty Co., National Grange Fire Insurance Co., and the Dept. of Agriculture, and Soil Conservation Service. Upon leaving Keene, she worked for the Army Air Force in the Pentagon, Washington, DC, including an assignment in the office of the director of the WASP’s, Jaqueline Cochran.  After marriage in 1947 she moved to Holden and worked at the Rutland Heights V.A. Hospital and the Worcester V.A. Outpatient Clinic, retiring in 1983.  Her government service spanned 19 years.  She was a longtime member of Greendale People’s Church, Chaffins Woman’s Club and Proto 5; she was also a member of AARP, NARFE and the York Senior Center.

The funeral for Mary will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 15, in the Greendale People’s Church, 25 Francis St., Worcester.  Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.  Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.  The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations be made to the Greendale People’s Church, P.O.
