Mary J. (Smith) McGee, 67, of 17 Mill St., in the Rochdale section of Leicester, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 in the Christopher House of Worcester after a short battle with cancer.

She leaves her husband of 29 years, James E. McGee; 4 sons: Donald E. Spencer, Jr. and his wife Julie of Worcester, Harold E. Spencer of Eagan, MN, Blair P. Spencer and his wife Jaime of Worcester, Joseph B. Sharleville of MA; 4 daughters: Constance E. “Connie” Spencer of Las Vegas, NV, Carolyn A. Spencer and her fiance Eugene Thomas of Worcester, Dawn G. Irwin and her husband Bruce of Fort Stockton, TX, Wendy L. Joubert and her husband Joshua of Rochdale: 2 brothers: Harold Smith and his wife Shirley of the Brookfields, Earl Smith of Rochdale; 2 sisters: Carol Dodds of Shrewsbury, Dorothy Otts and her husband Ralph of Eagan, MN, 22 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her childhood friend, Marie Dusoe. She was pre-deceased by 2 sisters: Betty Raymond and Connie Smith and a granddaughter, Barbara Spencer.

Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Harold & Dorothy (Cote) Smith and has lived in Rochdale for over 20 years. Mrs. McGee was a house keeping supervisor for 10 years at Mill Hill Nursing Home in Worcester. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, spending time with her family and going to yard sales.

The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff at the Christopher House for all their caring help.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday, January 13 at 11:00 A.M. in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. At the family’s request no other services are planned. Please omit flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA, 01701.

The MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester are directing arrangements.
