Subscription Update Obituary

Mary G. (Blood) Etre, 93 of Auburn, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, August 18, 2025.

Mary was born on March 13, 1932 in Worcester and where she went to school. She was the only child to Harry E. and Blanche A. (Proulx) Blood. She lived in Shrewsbury for over 35 years and later moved to Auburn where she has lived since 2006. Mary worked as a stitcher for Frank Sessions Casket Company for 18 years and later BS&G Manufacturing for 8 years retiring in the 1990s. Mary loved spending time crocheting and knitting and giving away her work to family and friends. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, especially cruises, and enjoyed many winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL with Felix. She was a member of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn and the IAVC Bocce League.

Mary was a warm, loving presence to all who knew her. She was a strong, determined woman who lived life on her own terms.

She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Mary’s husband, Simon G. Etre, Jr. passed away in 1992. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Tower and his wife Ruth of Lancaster; stepson, Mark Etre of Vernon, CT; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; her longtime friend and companion, Felix J. Piscitelli, Sr.. Beside her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a stepson, James Etre and a stepdaughter, Kathleen Lawrence.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 9;30-11:00 am followed by her funeral service at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions can be made to: Auburn Elks Scholarship Fund or Jewish Healthcare Hospice.
