Mary E. "May" (Sayers) Tharp, 87, of Largo, FL, died Monday, January 1st, in Largo Medical Center. Her husband of 53 years, Jacob A. Tharp died in 1991. She leaves 2 sons, James W. Tharp and his wife Loretta L. of Auburn and Richard E. Tharp and his wife Deborah J. of Leicester; 2 daughters, M. June wife of Gerard L. Milot of Largo, FL, and Margaret A., wife of James J. Walsh of Lady Lake, FL; a brother, William J. Sayers of Arlington, CA; a sister, Alice R. "Rita" Harding of Worcester; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of William P. and Margaret A. (Reidy) Sayers. Mrs. Tharp was raised in Cherry Valley, later moved to Worcester and has lived in Florida for the past 6 years. She was a 1937 graduate of St. Peter's High School. Mrs. Tharp worked for Zayre Department Store as a department manager for over 30 years before retiring. Her husband was a retired lieutenant for the Worcester Fire Department. Mrs. Tharp was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and was an avid Bingo player.

The funeral is Friday, December 5th, from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, December 4th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
