Mary E. McCarthy, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Beaumont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Westborough, surrounded by her family. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Varaski) McCarthy.

Mary grew up in Worcester and graduated from David Hale Fanning High School, Class of 1962. After graduation, she began her career in printing and illustration at Woodbury and Company Inc., later continuing her work at Digital.

A gifted artist, Mary had a natural talent for painting and illustration. She also loved the outdoors. She was an avid horseback rider and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and dog training. Mary was a longtime member of St. Bernard’s Church in Worcester.

She was predeceased by her brother, Michael McCarthy, and her sister, Kathy McCarthy. She leaves behind her sister, Anne Bondanza of Shrewsbury; her brothers, George McCarthy of Northbridge, and John McCarthy of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and compassion of Dawn M. Archie, LPN, Nurse Manager, and the Notre Dame Hospice and thank them for all of their help.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, November 25th, at Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton.
