Subscription Update Obituary

Mary Ann (Gagne) Carlson, 69, died Thursday, February 9, 2012.

She leaves her daughter, Debra A. Carlson-Ferrer of Norfolk, VA; a son, Steven M. Carlson of Worcester; a brother, George R. Gagne of Auburn and a sister, Joyce M. Shilinsky of Worcester. She also leaves five grandchildren, Doctor Sheree Bray, Heather Galas, Chris Carlson, Trenton Carlson and Jada Ferrer; one great grandson, Bobbie Bray and nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her son, Robert Carlson in 1999; her former husband and best friend; Howard A. “Happy” Carlson in 2010 and a sister, Patricia Conley.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of George R. and Ann C. (Wagner) Gagne and graduated from Commerce High School. Mary Ann worked at Worcester County National Bank for 17 years and later at Bank Boston retiring as Assistant Branch Manager. She volunteered at Green Island workshop at the Welfare Department to help teenagers.

Mary Ann was fortunate to have many wonderful friends who offered their love and support, and for that her family is very grateful. She was filled with such strength, courage and much wisdom. Her family and friends will use her lifelong lessons throughout the rest of their lives. Our hearts are saddened by your passing, but every day when we smile, it will be for you…Thank you…

The funeral will be held on Monday, February 13 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street, Auburn. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours are Sunday, February 12 from 3-5 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society , 30 Speen St., Framingham, 01701.
