Subscription Update Obituary

Mark E. Daly, 79, of Worcester, died unexpectedly Monday, February 26, 2007 at UMass-Memorial Medical Center.

His wife of 51 years, Ruth M. (Foley) Daly, died in 2005. He leaves four children, David J. and his wife Alice J. Daly of Auburn, Marie L. and her husband Robert J. Fortin of Paxton, Kathleen J. and her husband Stephen E. Craig of Webster and Daniel M. and his wife Diann H. Daly of Worcester; a sister, Joan Bederian of Warrensburg, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

He was born in Leominster, son of Mark and Catherine (Cahill) Daly, and moved to Worcester in 1954. He attended Leominster public schools.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Daly was a truck driver for M&M Transportation Co. for more than 20 years. He then worked for Holmes Transportation Co. for many years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 170.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish and the Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council. He was an avid golfer and a member of Green Hill Golf Club.

Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Friday, March 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 3, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St. , Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
